Erin Dobbelsteyn

Erin Dobbelsteyn is a PhD candidate in Global Sustainability and Environmental Law at the University of Ottawa. She is the recipient of the 2019-2020 Environmental Justice Research Fellowship and will be contributing to the Climate Justice case study. Erin’s diverse and interdisciplinary research interests include: environmental human rights, climate change litigation, environmental emergencies, ecological law, and environmental migration.

Erin completed her JD with a specialization in Health Law & Policy at Dalhousie University and holds a BSc in Neuroscience from McGill University. She has extensive experience in the areas of regulatory, health, and administrative law.

After five years of legal practice, Erin is excited to return to academia and to conduct graduate research at the intersection of climate change, public health and environmental justice under the supervision of Professor Nathalie Chalifour. She is eager to explore how the legal system can facilitate progressive change and equitable solutions to some of the most urgent and complex challenges of our time.
